Our services include community-based service projects, providing fresh produce from our community garden, serving as a community organizational leader for a community health clinic, conducting seminars, computer technology workshops, and reading and financial literacy classes. NHCDG plans, develops, and implements outreach programs that will meet the needs of communities within 0-200% of the Federal Poverty Level, communities of color, minority-led organizations/contractors, and those representing under-represented populations.
Community Service Programs
NHCDG Goal/Program focus area will be administered, but not limited to programs that address the following.
- Families/Individuals who have or are experiencing loss due to a global health crisis, financial and health concerns.
- Address food insecurity by providing (administrative or direct hands on) service to expand, establish and maintain Community Gardens, Food Pantries, Food Distribution Events, Food Support, etc.
- We work to lessen food insecurity and improve health outcomes of the community.
- We provide community education programs and organize events that focus on racial equity, social justice, health disparities, health literacy, education, employment/workforce development, environmental justice concerns and other social determinants of health.
- Address community concerns and provide advocacy for safe and fair housing. We collaborate with organizations who specialize in this area of work.
- We address community concerns by providing information, resources, advocacy, and leadership program opportunities for youth and adults.
- We provide medical access, seminars, and programs such as but not limited to, community health fairs, blood donation drives, nutrition education, health prevention programs/educational seminars, including those that are predominant to persons of color.
- We provide environmental health education as it relates to indoor air quality and other healthy home community concerns.
- We identify and collaborate with groups, organizations, individuals, civic groups, faith-based organizations, colleges/universities, and resource professionals that will help NHCDG with strategic alignment in carrying out our goals and program activities.
- Our service projects include neighborhood cleanups, advocating for visual and safety features, such as sidewalks, better street lighting, and open spaces. We also provide in collaboration with other organizations' art and youth leadership programs to help foster healthy neighborhood and community growth.
Informal Educational Seminars
We offer informal educational seminars on health, finances, budgeting, and workforce development. Our workforce development seminars include resume building, interview techniques, and hosting job fairs. Additionally, we partner with the Collaborative Cottage Grove Partners to host various health and resource programs and events that provide information on heart health, how to increase physical activity, nutrition, leadership development, and other wellness topics to the community.
